Chapter 4: Elicitation and Collaboration

The Elicitation and Collaboration knowledge area describes the tasks that business analysts perform to obtain information from stakeholders and confirm the results. It also describes the communication with stakeholders once the business analysis information is assembled.

There are several tasks of the elicitation and collaboration area:

Prepare for Elicitation: Ensure all needed resources are organized and scheduled for conducting the elicitation activities.

Conduct Elicitation: Meet with stakeholder(s) to elicit information regarding their needs.

Confirm Elicitation Results: Validate that the stated requirements expressed by the stakeholder match the stakeholder’s understanding of the problem and the stakeholder needs.

Communicate Business Analysis Information: Communicating requirements is essential for bringing stakeholders to a common understanding of requirements.

Manage Stakeholder Collaboration: Seek extended support from stakeholders for the projects success.

  1. Communicate Business Analysis Information

    Communicate Business Analysis Information is to ensure stakeholders have a shared understanding of business analysis information. This could be new concepts, processes, decisions. Etc. but need to be communicated for involvement and feedback. Information to stakeholders needs to be delivered at the right time and in formats that meet their needs. Lots of consideration is given to expressing the information in language, tone, and style that is appropriate to the audience for optimal comprehension. Communication of business analysis information is bi-directional and iterative which means It involves determining the recipients, content, purpose, context, and expected outcomes and constant user involvement.

    Business analysts engage stakeholders to ensure they understand the information and gain agreement for project success. The business analyst can and must acts on any disagreements to help gain understanding and support. The method of delivering the information may need to change if the stakeholders are not receiving or understanding it. Multiple forms of communication might be required for the same information as it varies on the different backgrounds of the stakeholders. This concept also ties into Manage Stakeholder Collaboration which encourage stakeholders and you to work towards common goals.

    The purpose of Manage Stakeholder Collaboration is to influence stakeholders to work for a common objective.
    Stakeholders have many degrees encourage and power of wrok products, important source needs, restrictions, and predictions. Business analyst begin the work process look for stakeholders and distribute their responsibilities, and do proper communiation with them to make sure the stakeholders participation on right time. Managing stakeholder collaboration is a continuous process and it begins when stakeholders identified and started to perform their roles and may be need of new stakeholders for more innovations.

    Their should be particular role changing system for stakeholders for different times. Business anaylst is mainly responsible for everything, business analyst inspect the stakeholders work and performance at every point.

    locations
    communication channels
    techniques
    language
    These are the important part for the logistic as required for making the important things to change and made the agenda for the more effective plan. This can be done if the stakeholders are involved in them.
