  1. Requirements and Designs
It is consistently recognized that the key activities of business analysis is to deal with all kinds of requirements. However business analysts are also responsible for designing the way to deal with the requirements. Requirements are focused on the need while designs are focused on the solution.
The distinction between these two aspects are not always clear, but the cycle of requirements and design cycle might be helpful. The cycle starts wiht the business requirements, after finishing the design we move on to the stakeholder requirements, solution requirements and the transition requirements. After that, we access the outcomes to see if we need to go all over again.

  2. Stakeholders can be an individual or group that a business analyst is likely to interact with directly or indirectly. A business analyst needs to know what internal and external factors/players to consider when making any decision. The BABOK™ textbook address a wide range of stakeholders that a Business Analyst must deliberate with and take into account when implementing any strategy. From the list I will select 2 and describe the role and apply it to a Business Analyst working for Tim Horton’s.

    Regulator

Regulators are responsible for the definition and enforcement of standards. Here these standards and regulations can be imposed from different bodies such as legislation, corporate governance standards, audit standards, or standards defined by organizational centers of competency.

For Tim Horton’s this could be from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and the Department of Health Canada (Health Canada) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in their US branches. Each must follow federal and provincial/state regulations for food and beverage preparation and sale. There are many others, but these are the main/top priority regulators that Tim Horton’s must abide by and what a B.A. must consider.

    Supplier

A supplier is a stakeholder outside the boundary of a given organization and provides products or services to the organization. These are also called vendors, consultants, or providers that.

Examples of supplier for Tim Hortons would include all the products and ingredients to make their food stuff, coffee growers, paper products (cups, napkins, cup coasters, bags), coffee-trader consultants, dairy farmers, roasters, etc. As you can see there are many suppliers and a B.A. should consider how their business plans impact their suppliers to maintain a healthy business relationship.
