  1. Trawling for business requirements:
Once the blastoff is completed, the requirements analysts start trawling for requirements. They learn the work being done by the business area identified by the blastoff. For convenience and consistency, they partition the work context diagram into business use cases. For Tim Hortons, the business analysts start gather requirements from the stakeholders by talking to them and do market research.

  2. Examples of these different Formality Guides that Tim Hortons uses would include:

Rabbit: new donut flavor. As discussed in an earlier post about using Lean methodologies in TQM. Tim Hortons claims that they can roll out a new donut flavor in 6 months and they follow a rapid model to do so.

Horse: A rewards/loyalty program that Tim’s just implemented on March 22 where after 7 purchases, you get a free item when you sign up with their app. One would assume this project would take 6mon-1 year to implement.

Elephant: Project to Focus on acquiring new coffee growers in different countries to obtain new coffee sources. This will take a long time to research, and develop potential growers and make sure they align with the company, have the correct standards that Tims accepts, create and solidify a deal, etc. This would take years to conduct and implement and is why it’s an elephant project.

  3. The Brown cow model works on the work happen at the current stage and hoe that work will be done in the long run which is the future and who and how it work in the situation. In the Tim Horton’s this is important for the business analysis to get the information of the work at all the stages which is important for the company that who the work will go and how will work on it to make sure the stakeholders get the important information.
